Our clustered servers are physically located in our own top datacenter in norhtern Germany with more than 120 direct peering including (WorldCom, Level3 & GlobalCrossing), ensuring ultra fast connectivity to any country – world wide.

COMPLAINTS AND MORE ABOUT SERVAGE HOSTING
http://gundestrup.dk/content/view/99/2/
He seems to be very happy about Servage but actually hasn't posted any RoR Application he is running on Servage. Only the same pamflet is available like the one in the FAQ what isn't working.
I wrote to him and hope to get an answer soon and some solutions how to get TYPO and REDMINE from the NOT RUNNING Status to a running Status on SERVAGE HOSTING.

Here are two guys which have exactly the same problem like me and also the same problems with the unqualified SERVAGE HOSTING SUPPORT answers. I replied to them and let's see what they say and how they got their stuff running.

SERVSAGE HOSTING REVIEW
Dec 28 - 15:48 GMT | Hi Servage We have some further Questions and it would be nice if could answer them: Is your Bandwidth counted DAILY? If Yes will Bandwidth which isn't used on that day be available for other days as a plus of Bandwidth? Would it be possible to get access to the RAW log Files? If yes how, where and when? Is Servage taking Care for Security and Datalosses. We read about that many many people lost there data at your Hosting Company this year. What happend and why don't you have regularly scheduled Backups like other Hosters. If you don't provide Backups, what can WE - the customer do when we Host at Servage Hosting to prevent Data losses? Is there a function to do a Backup for complete Folder Structures. Until now we only found a function to make a Database Backup manually, but what about the site and Applications itself? How many sites do you run per machine/cluster? What happens if one Computer in your cluster fails completly and its data gets lost. Will then also our Data be lost or do you have it stored same data on all Clusters so that it won't matter if only a Part of the cluster fails? You wrote that your money Back is only available for 5 days but your support also wrote, that it could take longer i.e. if you won't get the RoR Redmine running (in our Case)? Why don't you offer 30 days like others as your support team isn't able to solve Problems in 5 days. We are already waiting doubled as much ;-) AWstats or similar isn't possible with Servage. What Statistics would you recommend if people are looking for a replacement of awstat and they are hosting with SERVAGE HOSTING Will you offer live support in future: ICQ, Jabber, MSN, Skype ... Are you offering a Affiliate/referral Program where customers can earn additional MONEY (not webspace) What are the data you will need to open up an account more questions to come |
Dec 28 - 17:54 GMT | Hello Andreas, Thank you for submitting the ticket. Randwidth: All Servage accounts are allowed to use 120 GB of transfer per day. If you site goes over this limit it will be taken offline until the next day. The 120 GB transfer limit per day which means that your traffic allowance will vary a bit from month to month. E.g. you will be allowed to use 3720 GB transfer in a 31 day month but only 3360 GB in a month of 28 days. Log: Due to the clustered structure of our systems there is no single log file for you to use as your site is served by many servers. Backup: We do backup our systems against data loss in cases of for instance hardware failure. However, we are unfortunately not able to offer a restore of single files or accounts from a past date. We therefore recommend that you make your own backup for both web site content and database. It is possible through control panel to backup databases and you can backup site contents through FTP. Statistics: For statistic purposes we recommend using the statistic system which is pre-installed in the control panel. We are continue working to improve this system. Referral Program: Yes, we offer a quite unique referral program. Not only the one who refer a new customer receives a bonus - the referral receive a bonus too. When you suggest a new customer or a friend to sign-up with Servage please don't forget to hand out your coupon code which is: cust44977 This ensure you 2 months of free hosting and 25 GB extra storage for each new account using your coupon code. Your referral receive 25 GB extra storage too. Kind regards, Adam, Support -support Servage Hosting |
Dec 29 - 01:14 GMT | Thanks Adam BACKUP: Unfortunately SERVAGE isn't offering SSH Access, so HOW can we pack our complete website files? Our FTP isn't supporting zipping and we can't find one? If you have a look to other Hosting Providers, they are all offering the possibility to zip complete websites to secure your pages. A Database Backup is possible but why not doing the same with the "pagetree" of a website? SUPPORT: While testing we figured out that your SERVAGE HOSTING SUPPORT has an average response time of about more then 6 - 10 Hours. On some questions we even didn't received ANY answers for DAYS (we didn't counted them in the average response time as otherwise the average response time would be about 2 days!!! - This would mean no support at all! Don't you think so?) Looking to other Hoster they are mostly offering LIVE support via Skype/ICQ/Jabber. This is a very good way to receive immediate 24/7 support. Why don't you offer this? As your support team is placed in India I understand that you are not using REAL Names. The Names you are showing are only "Names" to show visitors that somebody is there. Actually that a whole bunch of people is there even it is only ONE SINGLE Person with multiple identities managing the whole thing. Why don't you show who you are, who is the team, or isn't there a Team at all? This would clarify why response times are so bad! CLUSTER: You did not answer the question how many sites are running on one server/cluster. This would be interesting to know as we as customers need to compare your offers with other ones and they always tell customers how many sites will run beside you with the same machine AFFILIATE: This sounds nice, but what can I "buy" for that? to have 25GB more and my "Clients" too. Can I resell those 25GB to another Person which is interested to have US hosting and maintaining their site. Is it at all possible to resell web space on one of your hosting spaces? CLUSTERED SERVERS (dedicated): Are you going to offer also clustered dedicated server spaces for professionals in future. We heard about that you are planing such a move? DATALOSSES: What happened actually as we found meanwhile lots of posts in the net and they are all talking about that SERVAGE HOSTING has lost their data around May this year. What happened and why are those people so angry with SERVAGE and even wanna sue them? We also found one posts where one of your (or YOUR) Manager wrote, that he can RESTORE the Data and that they have FOUND the LOST DATA. How can that be as you wrote, that you are not able to restore the data even you are doing backups. This is a bit weired and needs further explanations. Thanks. BANDWIDTH: So I now understand that your advertisement of about 3000 GB Bandwidth is WRONG as you are never offering 3000GB Bandwidth a month. Instead you are offering 120GB / per day what makes a BIG difference. Why don't you advertise this as it is a good argument for people who are looking for a HOSTER who is notserving those HIGH Bandwidth Pages? Isn't a FAIR STRATEGY a better deal for everyone or do you believe that if you don't tell people the truth or make them believe in other things which aren't actually not available at SERVAGE HOSTING - those customers feel more happy with SERVAGE? What about your ETHICS? Thanks for answering Kind regards Andi |

It was already setup for working, Database seems to be OK. t3log.info start in folder /redmine THanks --------------------------------------------- Problem URL: http://t3log.info/ --------------------------------------------- |
Dec 30 - 09:34 GMT | Hello Andreas, Please check whether the dispatch.fcgi or dispatch.cgi has correct path to ruby. The correct path is /usr/bin/ruby And ensure the permissions are set to 755. Let us know with the updates. Thank you :) Kind regards, Shelly, Servage - Support Servage Hosting |
Dec 30 - 09:55 GMT | That's the case Shelly! dispatch.fcgi looks like this usr/bin/ruby # # You may specify the path to the FastCGI crash log (a log of unhandled # exceptions which forced the FastCGI instance to exit, great for debugging) ... the same in dispatch.cgi ------------------------------ Permissions are 755 log and tmp folder are set to webserver recursive ------------------------------ |
Dec 30 - 09:56 GMT | You can check the folder /1_redmine in our installation - This contains the complete redmine installation and gets calles thry http://www.t3log.info |
Dec 30 - 10:28 GMT | Hi is still somebody there to assist? I guess it is a .htaccess error. I copied it from your faq but something seems not working as the error message is coming from the .htaccess file |
Dec 30 - 10:33 GMT | Here this is the error I am getting now: dispatch.fcgi: line 1: usr/bin/ruby: No such file or directory dispatch.fcgi: line 14: RailsFCGIHandler.process!: command not found dispatch.fcgi: line 17: RailsFCGIHandler.process!: command not found dispatch.fcgi: line 20: RailsFCGIHandler.process!: command not found dispatch.fcgi: line 22: syntax error near unexpected token `(' dispatch.fcgi: line 22: `require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../config/environment"' As you can see the path to your ruby isn't OK. So where do you have your ruby installed |
Dec 30 - 10:39 GMT | Hello Andreas, The path will be:#!/usr/bin/ruby and not /usr/bin/ruby. Please check at your end and update us. Thank you :) Kind regards, Shelly, Servage - Support Servage Hosting |
Dec 30 - 10:47 GMT | Hi now I receive still the syntax error dispatch.fcgi: line 22: syntax error near unexpected token `(' dispatch.fcgi: line 22: `require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../config/environment"' How should this look like? --------------------------------- dispatch.fcgi #!/usr/bin/ruby # # You may specify the path to the FastCGI crash log (a log of unhandled # exceptions which forced the FastCGI instance to exit, great for debugging) # and the number of requests to process before running garbage collection. # # By default, the FastCGI crash log is RAILS_ROOT/log/fastcgi.crash.log # and the GC period is nil (turned off). A reasonable number of requests # could range from 10-100 depending on the memory footprint of your app. # # Example: # # Default log path, normal GC behavior. #RailsFCGIHandler.process! # # # Default log path, 50 requests between GC. #RailsFCGIHandler.process! nil, 50 # # # Custom log path, normal GC behavior. #RailsFCGIHandler.process! '/var/log/redmine_fcgi_crash.log' # require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../config/environment" require 'fcgi_handler' RailsFCGIHandler.process! --------------------------- I can't find any differences here. So what is wrong? |
Dec 30 - 10:50 GMT | If I enable the error logs then even they don't get called dispatch.fcgi: line 14: RailsFCGIHandler.process!: command not found dispatch.fcgi: line 17: RailsFCGIHandler.process!: command not found dispatch.fcgi: line 20: RailsFCGIHandler.process!: command not found dispatch.fcgi: line 22: syntax error near unexpected token `(' dispatch.fcgi: line 22: `require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../config/environment"' --------------------------------------------- Can it be that the user permissions aren't enough to run ruby applications? So the folders or files won't get found? |
Customer
Hi
I got further and now I gut a whole bunch of stuff.
-------------------------------------------
The dispatch.fcgi looks like this now:
-------------------------------------------
#!/usr/bin/ruby
#
# You may specify the path to the FastCGI crash log (a log of unhandled
# exceptions which forced the FastCGI instance to exit, great for debugging)
# and the number of requests to process before running garbage collection.
#
# By default, the FastCGI crash log is RAILS_ROOT/log/fastcgi.crash.log
# and the GC period is nil (turned off). A reasonable number of requests
# could range from 10-100 depending on the memory footprint of your app.
#
# Example:
# # Default log path, normal GC behavior.
RailsFCGIHandler.process!
#
# # Default log path, 50 requests between GC.
RailsFCGIHandler.process! nil, 50
#
# # Custom log path, normal GC behavior.
RailsFCGIHandler.process! '/var/log/redmine_fcgi_crash.log'
#
require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../config/environment"
require 'fcgi_handler'
RailsFCGIHandler.process!
---------------------------------------

The Error message I am receiving now when I call http://t3log.info is:

I followed this post here:
这样的错误,其实是由于MySQL没有安装在默认的地址下的原因,解决办法是如果您有安装phpmyadmin的话,登录进去,选择系统变量会看到一项

socket /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
这样的字眼,后面的就是socket的地址,把database.yml里加上一行:
Sorry if you can't understand in short it says: (free translation)
update database.yml to reflect your system’s configuration. So your entry will be:
socket: /path/to/mysql.sock

So I really need to know where on your system do you hide mysql.sock or mysqld.sock WHERE!
I asked this already days ago if you checked. Or haven't you got this file at all on your servers?
Dec 30 - 11:59 GMT | Oh I am sorry you are not running utf8 in your support section. switch to chinese and you can read the post. You also should check your Templates and CSS as now I can't even see anymore the submit (UPDATE) bottom. It is somewhere to the right in nowhere ;-) |

Dec 30 - 22:36 GMT | Hello Andreas, Thank you for your reply. I can see that we have already replied to another ticket regarding the same issue. Kind do not open further tickets regarding the same issue. This may delay the responding time on the other open ticket. You are more than welcome to update the open ticket if you have any additional comments or updates. Thank you for your understanding. Kind regards, Josh, Support Servage Hosting |
Dec 31 - 01:35 GMT | Hi JOSH This is a different issue and you better read it twice. The one issue is about SERVAGE HOSTING SUPPORT (and Steffan your boss already replied!!!) and has nothing to do with the very specific case of REDMINE - The second Post. It proofs again that SERVAGE HOSTING 24/7 SUPPORT has no clue and no qualification at all and are only good in copy and pasting prepared answers. Read more about SERVAGE HOSTING in our Blog. http://apapococ.blogspot.com/ |
Dec 31 - 05:08 GMT | There is no Answer coming so we need to close this for the moment as we have HUGE Problems and can only post 2 Error Tickets, even we are running much more sites! |

I am getting this in your hosting panel from time to time since hours on a irregular basis. DATABASE and WEBSITE Backups
Dec 29 - 03:19 GMT | Hi Servage We wanna secure our sites to avoid dataloss. Would it be possible to setup a regular cronjob to move all our databases / or each one by itself via CRONJOB to another webspace which is NOT Clustered and Backuped. i.e. IMHOSTED is providing 2 TERRABYTE in Webspace for 6.95$ and they have a very good Backup Startegy and can restore all data on their sites even after a month as they are backuping their system regularly itself. The idea is to setup a cronjob which does a backup from the database and also transfers this backup to IMHOSTED space. Here we could store tons of Backups :-) The same we wanna do on a regular base for our website itself to secure also all Files/Pages stored in one Branch. As SERVAGE HOSTING isn't offering backupping we could create a cronjob which first packs the complete branch and then transfers it to IMHOSTED on a regular basis. How does those two CRONJOB needs to looklike (in working Syntax) at SERVAGE HOSTING |
Dec 29 - 03:24 GMT | Hello Andreas, Sorry, we don't have any backup server where you can dump your data and MySQl backups. Also it is not possible to have cronjob do regular backup of your DB from your control panel. Kind regards, John, Servage - Support Servage Hosting |

DOES SERVAGE HOSTING SUPPORT RUBY ON RAILS
Dec 28 - 15:07 GMT | If yes then please tell the Servage Hosting Support the HOWTO as they seem to have no idea at all. Trying to get a Ruby on Rails Application running on Servage Clustered Hosting is a nightmare as there is absolutly NO SUPPORT who will be able to assist you. Perhaps you should Ask Steffan the German Owner of this company why he is advertising RoR Support when it isn't possible to get even one simple RoR Application like Redmine running on Servage Hosting We should try also some other RUBY Applications - let's see how we can get them running on Servage. WE ARE WAITING FOR SUPPORT SINCE DEC 21st and until NOW - 8 days later there isn't any Support visible on the horizon from servage who will be willing to help and assist customers who wanna install a RoR on Servage Hosting. WHY? So another Question: HOW LONG DO WE NEED TO WAIT FOR AN ANSWER? |
Dec 28 - 15:08 GMT | Hello Andreas, Thank you for submitting a ticket. We do support ROR, here are the details: ROR - Ruby on Rails. Here are the paths: /usr/bin/ruby /usr/lib/ruby Thank you :) Kind regards, Julie, Support Team Member Servage Hosting |
Dec 28 - 15:52 GMT | Hi Julie nice to hear that you are back. I posted already the links to the manual of redmine and also the server requirements and so on. but since then nothing happend at all and no support. How can you get Ruby on Rails Application Redmine running one Servage Hosting. As you already know we are waiting since over a week that exactly this will happen - a RUNNING REDMINE on SERVAGE HOSTING! When will you start helping the customers? Thanks Andi |
Dec 28 - 15:56 GMT | I added the path you just gave usr/lib/ruby, beside usr/bin/ruby but nothing changed. We are still receiving the same error like days a go. Application error Rails application failed to start properly |
Dec 28 - 17:39 GMT | Hello Andreas, Thank you for your reply. ROR is supported on any of our clusters. You are welcome to install it. Please note we do unfortunately not support scripting issues. Kind regards, Patricia, Customer Care Manager Servage Hosting |
Dec 28 - 23:49 GMT | Hi Patricia It is not a scripting issue but an issue of your server configurations. They are quite strange. As you can see mysql.sock isn't found |
Dec 29 - 00:44 GMT | Hi Patricia This is in absolut contrary what you (SERVAGE SUPPORT) mailed before. They actually offered their help to get REDMINE running on SEVAGE. The case - so it was said - was even sent to your admin to help us to get this running. Now I think that, RUBY on RAILS isn't really working on SERVAGE and it is probably only an add trick to gain more customers, isn't it ;-) I am so sorry about that. We are having problems to setup REDMINE as your server isn't configured for RUBY on RAILS and your FAQ isn't right at all. Check our prvious posts and requests about that. http://apapococ.blogspot.com/ Also we think you should warn customers about your service and support as there isn't any REAL support. Isn't it ;-) If there is support, then please check why our REDMINE isn't running on your server. We have already transmitted all specs as requested from Julie yesterday. Thanks! |
RUBY ON RAILS PROBLEMS (Redmine)
Dec 28 - 08:51 GMT | We are receiving an Application Error on http://www.t3log.info Redmine Installation is in the /1_redmine Folder of our account Calling dispatch.fcgi:13: uninitialized constant RailsFCGIHandler (NameError) - results in a Name Error as you can see Same: Calling dispatch.fcgi:1: undefined local variable or method `usr' for main:Object (NameError) Can you please check and let us know what is wrong here. Thanks! |
Dec 28 - 08:56 GMT | Hello Andreas, Thanks for submitting the ticket. Please use this path /usr/bin/ruby for the application. Thank you :) Kind regards, Julie, Support Team Member Servage Hosting |
Dec 28 - 09:03 GMT | Goodmorning Julie I tried already with this - as you can read here: I now switched back to this setting here the dispatch.fcgi usr/bin/ruby # # You may specify the path to the FastCGI crash log (a log of unhandled # exceptions which forced the FastCGI instance to exit, great for debugging) # and the number of requests to process before running garbage collection. RailsFCGIHandler.process! # # # Default log path, 50 requests between GC. RailsFCGIHandler.process! nil, 50 # # # Custom log path, normal GC behavior. RailsFCGIHandler.process! '/var/log/redmine_fcgi_crash.log' # require File.dirname(__FILE__) + "/../config/environment" require 'fcgi_handler' RailsFCGIHandler.process! ------------------------------------ But I am still receiving the same error ------------------------------------ I tried also the cgi version and had then another error that temp/mysql.sock isn't found. Dec 28 - 09:06 GMT | Sorry Julie here you can read all posts since you wrote last time about the same problem http://apapococ.blogspot.com/ |
Dec 28 - 09:16 GMT | You can even search google as this problem caused so much up in ranking that we are number one before servage itselfe! - all because the support hasn't solved the problem until now. Search for ruby servage http://www.google.co.th/search?q=ruby+servage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a or for rails servage http://www.google.co.th/search?q=rails+servage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a or even for redmine servage http://www.google.co.th/search?q=redmine+servage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a or typo3 servage here we are at place 6 first page http://www.google.co.th/search?q=typo3+servage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a or magento servage here we are with the same problem like place 1 and to on place 3 and 4 http://www.google.co.th/search?q=magento+servage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a or lifetype servage http://www.google.co.th/search?q=lifetype+servage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Now imagine how good it would be if we would place your adds on those sites. Lots of people meanwhile mailed us - but most of them only about even more problems with your support. I really wanna help you to improve this, but please first get the REDMINE running and the we will need to other Rails applications running next week too. PLEASE PLEASE HELP and cooperate Thanks |

Dec 28 - 11:15 GMT | Here is the REDMINE Website http://www.redmine.org/ The actual Tar ball you can find in Folder: /xtar/redmine_** in my account Here you find the sources: http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=1850 I am using the latest Version 0.6.3 http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/29428/redmine-0.6.3.tar.gz In the WIKI you will find all specifications: http://www.redmine.org/wiki/redmine/Guide What is needed you will find here (SERVER Requirements) http://www.redmine.org/wiki/redmine/RedmineInstall it is only * Ruby on Rails 1.2.6 or 2.0.2 * A database (see compatibility below) ---------------- AS Optional - if possible this would be nice to have if not then I need to use i.e. sourceforge: * SVN binaries (>= 1.3), for repository browsing (must be available in your PATH) * RMagick (Gantt export to a png image) ---------------- That is actual all you need to install Redmine on your server. There is a prepared package available at http://bitnami.org/stack/redmine As I have no ssh and no admin access I am not able to use it but perhaps it could help you setting up redmine sucessfully. Thanks a lot Julie |
